So, what’s in a name? A lot actually! But what does HD4 mean? Does it stand for High Definition or Heavy Duty? Nope, it stands for Hawkeye Dad Four. Okay, I’m assuming you’re scratching your head at this point. Let’s back up.

 

My brother, Chris, is what we call a “camera guy.” He was always shooting amazing pictures and creating cool videos. He actually teaches this at a local high school. I have four kids (first clue) who are all active in sports.

 

In 2016, my wife and I decided that in order to properly document our kids' games, we needed to upgrade from taking pictures on our phones. Chris pointed me to a proper camera and showed me the basics. Over the next few years, I began to purchase the equipment that I needed to get my content to the “next level.”

 

I began taking a lot of video and pictures. I purchased editing software so that I could tell a story with this content instead of leaving it to die on my computer's hard drive. I created videos for the teams that my kids were involved with.

 

After looking for a place to post this content, I decided to give Instagram a try. But I needed an account name. After some thought I landed on @hawkeye_dad. My kids attend Hamilton Schools, and yep, you guessed it, their mascot is the Hawkeyes.

 

Over the years I have become affectionately known as Hawkeye Dad. In fact, I’m convinced that a percentage of students think this is my birth name. So, I wanted the name of my business to be directly tied to how I started.

 

Each year, I hone my skills. I have spent countless hours watching YouTube videos to learn how to edit, how to apply effects, how to make my photos and videos look like the vision in my head.

 

I love creating content and I love to have fun with the process. There is always something new to learn, and that excites me.
